The village that
set the model.

The team behind Tiny Village Spirit led the creation of Youth Spirit Artworks' Tiny House Empowerment Village — a constituent-led community for youth experiencing homelessness in Oakland, California.

The project brought together congregations, schools, businesses, and neighbors in a model of community-driven construction that is now the foundation of everything we do. Every board was placed by a volunteer. Every home was designed with residents at the center.

Harnessing art and creativity was fundamental to the effort, from the signature painted planks that ring the site to the murals that give the village its identity. The result is a space that residents are proud to call home.

The village is now run by Youth Spirit Artworks
